Back in 1982, Dragon magazine #74 printed a BASIC program of several hundred lines that proported to generate a character for the player or Dungeon Master. Of course, once the user had experienced the state of the art ASCII interface, he had to copy down ALL the information the computer generated.

So, twenty five years late, I present a re-imagining of this code in PHP, which is kind of the BASIC of today. Just to be clear, this code generates characters for the world of Basic/Expert D&D plus the Gazetteers as it was known circa 1985 (pre-Mystara). Enjoy.
