In what will always be called by me “my birthday storm,” many trees and power lines where destroyed in the historic ice storm that clobbered the Northeast last Thursday night. I have been in blizzards, high winds, driving rain even hurricanes, but I don’t think I’ve ever been so frighten about getting smacked by natural chaos as much as I was during this ice storm.

“Ice storm” seems like a pretty week descriptor for this kind of phenomenon. How about “Mr. Frosty’s Revenge?”

Here are a series of photos from my mobile phone of the carnage. It’s pretty hard to get the scope of the problem from these. This weekend, Chelmsford looks like war zone.

Update: Power has been restored and I am once again safely ensconced at home.
